About the Artist

I have a long, although circuitous, history with painting, starting with Plein Air watercolor painting with my mother in upstate N.Y. when I was a teenager. She was an accomplished watercolor and oil painter, landscape as well as portrait.

I earned my BFA in Ceramics, then apprenticed and worked as a Glassblower for 3 years. I eventually went back to school and earned my Masters degree in Physical Therapy. I am recently retired after a 26 year career.

I have been pursuing my creative expression and art throughout my life, working in watercolors, pastels and oils (along with gardening, home remodeling, even sewing!). They each have their unique expression and bring joy to me in different ways.

The luminosity of light and color that can be achieved in watercolors and pastels is what inspires me.

With oils, the ability to mix any color, and the feel of the paint as you mix and apply it to the canvas is exhilarating!

I am always searching for the best way to capture and express the light and color of the natural beauty that surrounds us, whether in the magnificent vistas or just the ordinary day to day places, people or objects that surround us. My goal is to elicit a response from the viewer on some level, whether it is the recognition of the familiar, experience of the new, or a feeling of joy/happiness/peace.
